NEW LIFE ENGLISH ONLINE’s BASIC PROGRAM OFFERED:

OUR PROGRAM FOCUSES MAINLY ON THE FOUR MACRO SKILLS WHICH ARE: SPEAKING, LISTENING, READING AND WRITING. AS ILLUSTRATED ABOVE WHEN THE LEARNER LISTENS TO A MATERIAL THAT WILL HELP THE LEARNER COMPREHENDS TO THE CONTENT OF THE LISTENING MATERIAL THEN THE LEARNER WILL DO THE SPEAKING AS THE OUTPUT OF THE MATERIAL. THE NEXT ONE IS WHEN THE LEARNER READS SOMETHING THEN THE LEARNER IS EXPECTED TO WRITE THE CONTENT OF WHAT HE READS AS THE RESULT OF THE READING ACTIVITY.

WITH THIS SIMPLE ILLUSTRATION WE NOW DRAW OUR BASIC PROGRAM WHICH WE WILL CALL, “THE INTEGRATED PROGRAM”. The INTEGRATED PROGRAM is a program that will involve all the four macro skills. We feel that there is a great need for the learners to integrate all this factors because each of this goes hand-in-hand. Yes, it is true that writing is the most neglected skill among the four skills and speaking and listening are the most practiced skills and reading comes next. But if we just focus on writing since we said earlier that it is the least practiced, then we are not directing the learner into a goal that will help him an English speaker that he wants to. A collaboration of these skills will help a learner’s English skill go one step higher.

LISTENING/ SPEAKING:
LISTENING PROGRAM- In this program the learner will be given a copy of the listening material which contains different stories. Our aim in this program is to give an instruction that will determine the learner’s comprehension towards the given instruction. The teacher will test whether or not the learner understood the story. How? Through a short quiz asking characters or the what, when, where, why and who plus the how of the story. To eliminate questions that may appear easy on the part of the learner or questions that will give the learner an obvious answers, the teacher may give another type of test. Examples of listening programs are listed below.

  • DAILY NEWS- This does not only focus on what’s happening in Asia but instead in what is happening around the world. The goal here is to create awareness to the learner about the world within.
  • HUMAN STORIES- contains different real-life stories-from the happiest to the most tragic stories one could ever imagine.
  • PRONUNCIATION- Contains a listening material that will let the student follows the correct pronunciation of words being spoken. Practicing it during the class is what is expected from the student. This is a wonderful collaboration between the teacher and the learner, since it involves a pronunciation task to the learner where the teacher through the listening material, will now have to initiate the task to the student. So it is now a collaborative activity.
  • BUSINESS ENGLISH- This aims to open the learner in the world of business-business in the sense that it will enhance the learner’s knowledge on a broader idea of what Business English is all about (letter writing, basic telephone conversation, resume making, tips during interview, sales and marketing etc.). This will introduce how English language can be use in work environment.
(*NOTE: can be offered to both: listening/speaking and reading/ writing)

READING/WRITING:
• READING PROGRAM- In this program reading articles will be sent to the student for reading activities but at the end of the class or as a homework a written output will be required to test whether or not the learner has gain something from the activity. The main goal of this program is to bring forth the student to the idea that reading is also a product of writing. That writing in itself is not boring and difficult, that these two could be developed in a fun and exciting way and not in a traditional manner where teacher teaches the process of writing or how to develop a good reading habit. In this program we will give a new idea for these two skills. For the reading aspect, the teacher will determine how critical or analytical a student can understand a passage which in turn will be reflected in the final written output. To eliminate difficulty on the part of the student, guidelines will be given by the teacher.

  • DAILY NEWS- also the same with the one given to the LISTENING PROGRAM
  • ROLE PLAY- this will focus on the interaction between the student and the teacher since it involves acting.
  • SITUATIONAL TOPICS- this are not just topics, this also involves short stories that will enable the learner to comprehend and tell his/or her opinion. This also involves speaking through a series of Q & A or questions and answers.
  • IDIOMS- this will focus on the idiomatic expressions that will be helpful to students.
  • VOCABULARIES- study of some basic words with their definitions and uses in a sentence construction.
  • THEME LESSON- This type of program will offer the learner a knowledge of some celebrated events around the globe (Christmas, Halloween, new year, thanks giving etc.) This will offer a discussion on multicultural and understanding and or knowing how one country differs to another in celebrating a certain occasion common to all nations.
*NOTE: ALL PROGRAMS WILL ALSO FOCUS ON DEFINITION OF VOCABULARIES USED.

OTHER PROGRAMS:
PREPARATION ON ENGLISH PROFFICIENCY TEST

  • TOEIC/TOEFL/IELTS- These are type of proficiency test being offered to non-English speakers. The teacher’s role here is to guide the learner review in preparation for the test.
  • POP CULTURE- This program will concentrate on the appreciation of modern arts (music, literary pieces etc.) This gives the learner and the teacher study how English language is being used to music and literature in the modern age. Selected topics will be given. These topics are the topics which were once talked about by many people especially in the case of music.
  • MOVIE CLASS OR SCRIPT REVIEW- This is not a program that will allow the learner to watch movie during the class, this is a program that will help the student understand and analyze the content of the movie most especially on the different scenes or episodes. This will help the learner evaluate the dialogue being stated by the characters. Aside from dialogues, symbols and other important messages will also be discussed. Selected movie will be discussed such as: Friends, Gossip Girl, Desperate Housewives, Sex in the city etc.
